Dog Name Tag
A tag is the identifier that travels. It clips onto whatever your dog is wearing today — collar, harness, a borrowed lead at the kennel — and it takes ten seconds to move. That portability is the whole point, and it is why plenty of owners keep one even when the collar already carries a name.
Three shapes, and the size difference is not decorative
The three cuts are not the same size, and that decides how much text fits and how large each letter is engraved. A shape chosen for looks alone can end up carrying a phone number in letters that need reading glasses.

How big that actually is in the hand
A table of inches is hard to picture. The bone, the largest of the three, sits inside a closed palm with room to spare — small enough that a dog stops noticing it within a day, large enough that a stranger reads it without lifting the dog's head.
Four finishes, one price
Steel, gold, rose gold and black. All four are the same stainless steel underneath; the finish is what changes, and with it how the engraving reads. The engraved line sits darker than the face on the three light finishes and lighter on the black one, which is worth a thought if you want it legible from a distance rather than up close.
Steel and black are the two that stay closest to their factory appearance over a few years of being knocked against a bowl. Gold and rose gold warm as they wear.
Two faces, and what to put on each
Both sides can be engraved. The habit that works best is the dog's name on the front, where it is read first and used to speak to the animal, and the phone number on the back, where there is room for it to be cut large. If you would rather have the number on the front, say so at checkout and it is cut that way.
The number is the line that ends a search. The name is the line that keeps a frightened dog still long enough for someone to read the number. Both earn their face.
The ring, and where the tag ends up
Every tag comes with a split ring — the flat coiled kind, not an open jump ring that can be pulled straight. It goes onto the D-ring of a collar, onto a harness, or onto a lead clip, and it comes off just as easily when you want to move it.
Owners who already have our collar with an engraved plate often add a tag anyway: the plate stays with the collar, the tag follows the dog onto the harness for a hike. Two identifiers, two places, and neither has to be removed to use the other.
What happens after you order
You choose a shape and a finish, and enter the text for each face at checkout. The tag is cut with that text and shipped free to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom or Australia. Because there is no pre-made version of your tag on a shelf, allow 9 to 14 business days for the engraving and 5 to 8 in transit — 14 to 22 business days door to door.
Engraving is included on every shape and every finish. It is not an extra at checkout.

What can I have engraved on a dog tag?
Your dog's name on one face and your phone number on the other, or both on the same face if you prefer. You enter the text at checkout and the tag is cut afterwards.
How big is the tag?
It depends on the shape, and the difference is real: the bone is 1.9 by 1.1 inches, the fish 1.5 by 0.9, and the cat head 1.1 by 1.0. Each shape is shown at scale on this page. The bone gives the most room for text.
Does it come with a ring?
